The weekend will feature Walk Oxford with various routes taking in historic Oxford and the Bike Oxford Cyclability ride.  Providing a safe opportunity for everyone to enjoy cycling with inclusive facilities and access to a fleet of adapted cycles to best suit individual needs.

As an entrant to Bike Oxford, you will benefit from:

  • A choice of FOUR fully marked routes with a back up route map and GPS files
  • Feed stations on the long and medium routes
  • On-course first aid and mechanical support
  • A medal and a snack at the end of your ride

Bike Oxford 2024 Routes

Starting and finishing at Oxford University Rugby Club, we have four brand new routes heading out towards the Chilterns. We're confident we've got some really good routes for you, however these are provisional and subject to change after further reconnaissance and risk assessments.

**NEW ROUTE** We have just added a fourth route - The Introductory Ride - a 13 mile route including a lap of historic Oxford. Priced at just £20 for adults and £15 for children, this is ideal if you are looking to ride your first cycling event on the road. All riders get a finishers medal and a snack at the end of the ride.

How fast do I have to ride?

For rider safety we do have a cut-off time of 4pm, but this provides ample time and should allow many types of rider to enjoy Bike Oxford.

At the start, riders set off in pods of about 20 after a briefing. There will be a female only pod for each of the ride distances for anyone who would prefer this.

What facilities are available?

There are toilet facilities at the start/finish and at the feed stations. Period products will be available in all female toilets and from female members of Iconic Cycling Events Staff/volunteers.

There are changing facilities at the start and finish and a bag drop at the start.

Please get in touch if there are any other facilities or assistance that you would find useful and would aid your participation and enjoyment of Bike Oxford

How do I get there?

By Car: There is no parking at the venue but Redbridge Park and Ride is just £2 and a 10 minute ride away from the venue.

By Train: Oxford University Rugby Club is 2.8 miles and a c.16 minute cycle from Oxford Station

What kit do I need?

  • A roadworthy bike
  • A helmet

There is mechanical support on the rides, but we recommend that everyone is self- sufficient and carries:

  • Tyre levers
  • Mini-pump
  • Spare inner tubes
  • Multi-tool
  • Puncture repair kit

The feed stop will be stocked with a range of sweet and savoury high energy food products, as well as water, but we also recommend carrying:

  • Full water bottle(s)
  • Snacks

What clothing do I need?

You can cycle in anything you feel comfortable in, but we recommend:

  • A waterproof jacket
  • A pair of padded cycling shorts. This will make the riding much more comfortable. You can wear baggy shorts, leggings or trousers over the top if you don’t want to just wear lycra.

If you become pregnant after entering Bike Oxford and no longer wish to participate in this year’s event, please get in touch. We can either defer your place or offer you a refund.

Walk Oxford powered by UHY Ross Brooke Chartered Accountants

Thanks to UHY Ross Brooke Chartered Accountants, Walk Oxford is coming back bigger and better for 2024. There will be three routes, approximately 10, 17 & 23 miles taking in historic Oxford and the Oxfordshire countryside.

The Walk Oxford short route heads south, following the river in the main, as far as Sandford-on-Thames. The medium route completes the 10 mile loop of the short route and then continues north along the river as far as Godstow before returning alongside the Oxford Canal. The long route sets off south with the short route but continues south following Shakespeares Way and then the Oxford Green Belt Way as far as Abingdon Lock, before returning north following the Thames.

All Walk Oxford participants will be provided with a route map containing information on local history and all walkers will receive a medal and food at the end of the walk.

The event may appeal to:

🔘 Corporate and Charity teams
🔘 Groups of friends and families or individuals keen to take on the challenge
